Close to 1000 new workers will be hired by Wells Fargo Mortgage Division at a Phoenix-area job fair. The positions
will actually be based in Tempe and other Valley offices and focused on loan operations. The flagship office where most of the new positions will be working out of will be located on 17th Street, occupying a whopping 111,000 square feet. The fair will be held this week on January 9th and 10th from 10AM to 8PM at the Phoenix Convention Center. Prospective applicants are encouraged to arrive early as the turnout is expected to be rather large for these exciting opportunities. Applicants should also apply online at www.wellsfargo.com/career even if they are intending on attending the job fair.
While the positions lean towards those applicants with past finance, banking or mortgage experience, there may be administration openings as well. Skills such as ability to work the phones, customer service, computer aptitude and secretarial experience are also encouraged to apply. The Convention Center is a prime spot to handle recruitment giving its central location within Phoenix, ample parking and state of the art amenities.
The job fair is an illustration of two trends occurring within the Phoenix area right now: an improving economy and the efforts put forth by the city to help its citizenry. The choice to build such a large facility in Tempe by one of the largest banks in the world shows that the Phoenix and Tempe areas are seen as viable and attractive locales to expand business, with a qualified population from which to recruit. And the attractive amenities and business-friendly environment fostered, along with the sponsorship of such a large job fair, speaks to the efforts by civic and commerce leaders to encourage such expansion into the area.
